07/10/2008 - Houston, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Houston Astros general manager Ed Wade announced Thursday that outfielder Reggie Abercrombie will accept his assignment and report to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday. Additionally, right- handed pitcher Oscar Villarreal has rejected his assignment to Round Rock and has been placed on waivers.

Abercrombie, 26, hit .188 with one double and one home run in 14 games for the Astros this season. The outfielder hit .208 with seven home runs and 13 stolen bases in 146 games during the two previous season with the Florida Marlins. Houston claimed him off waivers from Florida on October 11, 2007.

Villarreal, also 26, went 1-3 with an earned run average of 5.02 in 35 appearances for Houston this season. He was designated for assignment on July 2. The right-hander has a career record of 24-15 with a 3.86 ERA in six major league seasons with Arizona, Atlanta and the Astros.
